Dr. Janice S. Ellis earned her Ph.D. in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she specialized in the theory and practice of public communication, public persuasion, and shaping public research. In completing her doctoral thesis, special research was conducted at Yale University where the papers of Walter Lippmann (regarded as one of the foremost columnist in the 20th century) are archived. She conducted interviews with Eric Sevareid, CBS News, James Reston, New York Times; and Marquis Childs, St. Louis Post Dispatch. Her doctoral thesis focuses on advocacy journalism as a genre of discourse, and the role of the political columnist in shaping public opinion, and impacting public policy. She also earned a Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in Political Science, in addition to Communication Arts. Dr. Ellis’ vision is to close the racial, ethnic, and cultural divides that continue to separate everyone in this country.
