Ask most Canadians if racism is present in their country and you will get a swift denial of this type of social injustice. Canadians tend to see themselves as a tolerant people who desire equality and opportunity for all. Canada has two official languages, English and French. The country also encourages immigration and plans to welcome a quarter million new immigrants from all over the world in 2013.

LONDON (AP) - The English Football Association has approved proposals to help stamp out the resurgence of racism in the sport.

The "Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Action Plan" was requested by British Prime Minister David Cameron after high-profile racism cases involving Chelsea captain John Terry and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez last season and various fan incidents.

Among 15 pages of proposals, managers and players will have "mandatory induction arrangements" if they are new to the "British cultural environment."

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana never spent millions of dollars the federal government provided to help make sure the children of migrant workers get a good education, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Education.

The federal government awarded the state a total of about $12 million for fiscal years 2010 and 2011, but the Indiana Department of Education didn't claim the grants, the report obtained this week by The Associated Press says.
