Cathy Gilbert McElderry earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Alabama. She received the Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Master of Social Work from Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. McElderry has served on the graduate faculty of Alabama A& M University and is currently Assistant Professor at UAB.
Dr. McElderry has a strong background in healthcare administration, having served in risk management and quality improvement. Dr. McElderry is certified in risk management modules I-IV from the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management. In addition to her administrative capacities, Dr. McElderry has direct practice experience in the areas of pediatric health care and adult mental and behavioral health.
